Eleven boats descended on the Summer Tide Resort for a 2nd annual regatta. PRO Ben Glass with Kate Schmidt managed to get 4 races in just 5 knots of wind on Saturday. Finding the best wind velocity on the course is usually paramount in this light of air but there were substantial current differences across the course and shifts to consider as well. The water was smooth and clear enough to notice current running in the opposite direction several inches below the surface. The runs were mostly jib-reaching but some made the wing work at times. Racing ended early enough for a crowd to go on a hike while others got some foiling in.
The highlight for the kids was either the 75 cent ice creams or riding the back of a pickup truck. The standard debrief and social gathering was a great end to the day. Thanks to all for helping Connor celebrate his 9th birthday. Unfortunately, there was not quite enough wind on Sunday so we were glad that Ben made the most of Saturday. Racing was tight and competitive as ever and it was impressive how fairly everyone sailed. It should be noted that AnaLucia and Jenn Glass finished second on their first outing together and it was great to see some new members. Special thanks to Ben and Kate for running the races and the Larsons for hosting.
