Eight Tasar teams descended upon the Log Cabin Resort for the second annual Lake Crescent Tasar Regatta. The wind was strong and steady on Saturday morning until halfway up the first beat of the first race when the wind changed to classic lake sailing conditions where the point of sail on any given leg was ever changing. Leading the race was tenuous at best and many magnificent comebacks and losses were had. Jackson and Farzana as Race Committee were very efficient at getting off 5 races. After racing we warmed up by the fire and entertained the whole campground by showing off our lack of football skills. Tim and Melissa were could be considered the most hearty as they camped in a tent in the rain and cold while the rest of us luxuriated in the rustic log cabins but some of the younger generation went for a late night swim, possibly rebranded as cold water therapy.
On Sunday morning the Karas’s took their 1 year old sailing while Jackon and Farzana scoped out the best spot on the lake to set up the course in wind. We were doubtful while sailing out that we would race but the race committee got three more in with a bonus race to the dock as the lake glassed off. Ashore Lindsay calmed the local ranger who suggested we should have a permit next year while Derek kindly rescued the confiscated marks. It was a great low key weekend and Thanks again for the excellent race committee work.
