Tasar BC's.
Kitsilano Yacht Club, Vancouver, BC, August 31 & September 1, 1996
Jay and Lisa Renehan dominated the 1996 Tasar BC Championship, defending their championship with 5 bullets. Kent Powley and Cathy Sherwood were a convincing second overall, with a first and three seconds on Sunday after a capsize put them out of race 1. Local sailors John Polglase and Mike Mills were third. Saturday was sunny and cool with a 20 to 25 knot weather system west to south-westerly wind. Three boats suffered equipment problems, including: a mast plug that pulled into the base of the mast, leading to failure of the lower mast section; failure of the screws holding the padeye to a shroud slide; and a rudder delamination. Only one race was sailed. Sunday was sunny and warmer with 6 to 8 knots westerly wind. Five races were sailed in a moderate chop, shifting wind and current that varied across the racing area. The course for all races except race 6 was a windward-leeward plus a trapezoid, with 2 beats, 2 runs and 2 close reaches. Race 6 was shortened to eliminate the first windward-leeward.
