| Tasar BCs Report 2008 Sailors were treated to glorious weather and perfect 8-18 knot winds for the 2008 BC Championships. Thilo Giese and Sandra Towers picked up where they left off after a 2 year absence to win the 17 boat regatta. The reason for their absence was later seen jumping into puddles to dip his diapers into a soggy state. Former Fireball partners, Julian Hannabuss and Joel Lancaster, were reunited to win a tight race for 2nd place. It was good to see new faces in the Tasar Fleet this year. The youngest skipper at age 13, Laura Konitzer, handled the challenging conditions remarkably well to finish in 7th place. Newcomers Chris Carberry and Cathy Griffen, received the perseverance award for finishing all the races (and driving all the way from Chilliwack). Shelley Macy livened up the awards ceremony with her infamous 'everyone gets a prize' presentation. Unable to sail Sunday, Francois Herbert and Anita Karel slipped into the BOB (best of the bottom) position and earned the much coveted assortment of Sponge Bob merchandise. We hope to see everyone again (and more) this time next year. Next stop on the circuit is the North Americans on September 20-21 in Bellingham, WA. See you there!
